Read MoreHumpback whales are commonly seen in the waters off British Columbia, Canada where they spend the summer feeding. This image was taken during a sea kayak expedition in August near Blackfish Sound, BC. As we rounded a corner in our kayaks, we encountered this magnificent humpback lunge feeding. The whale gave us this "tail wave" as it dove right beneath our kayaks!! A truly amazing experience.
Several years ago, ironically on my birthday, I sat alone atop a rock ledge in Voyageurs National Park, intending to capture star trails over Lake Kabetogama. It was eerily calm and quiet. As I prepared for my desired composition, the sky suddenly erupted into a magnificent display of dancing color! It was the Aurora Borealis! Vivid purples, greens and magentas filled the night sky. I sat in awe for hours, capturing as many images as I could. It was truly a spiritual experience and it was that experience that motivates me to share my work with others."
